Turkey e-Visa explained
Türkiye’s e-Visa is an electronic visa obtained online before travel. This page explains the scheme in plain language, drawing on the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs and e-Visa guidance; always use the official portal and confirm the requirements for your nationality.
The official e-Visa portal
The e-Visa is obtained online through the official portal at evisa.gov.tr. Use only the official portal — look-alike third-party sites are not the government service.
Tourism or business only
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the e-Visa is valid only for tourism or business purposes. Travel for other purposes — such as work or study — requires a different visa obtained through a Turkish Representation abroad.
When the e-Visa does not apply
Travellers who are not eligible for the e-Visa can apply through the official visa portal at visa.gov.tr, or through a Turkish embassy or consulate for purposes the e-Visa does not cover. Check the official guidance for your situation.
