How to apply for a Singapore visa
The steps below are the general shape of a Singapore trip from an immigration point of view. Your exact requirements depend on your nationality and purpose of travel, so always confirm against the official ICA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs pages linked on this page.
Check if you need an entry visa
Only nationals of certain listed countries need a Singapore entry visa — many nationalities are visa-free. Start with the official ICA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance to find out whether an entry visa applies to you.
Apply for the entry visa if required
If you need an entry visa, apply before you travel through the official ICA channel. An entry visa is pre-entry permission only — it is not a guarantee of entry.
The pass is granted at the checkpoint
When you arrive, an ICA officer decides whether to grant you an immigration pass — usually a Short-Term Visit Pass — and sets your period of stay. This pass, not the entry visa, controls how long you may remain.
Submit the arrival information required
Travellers are asked to submit the arrival information ICA requires before entry. Follow the current instructions on the official ICA pages for exactly what to provide and when.
