Iceland is a member of the Schengen Area, but it does not maintain embassies in every country. In many regions, Icelandic visa processing is handled through the embassies of Denmark or Norway, or through VFS Global Visa Application Centres.

VFS Global Visa Application Centres (2026)
In countries where Iceland has no direct diplomatic mission, visa applications are collected through VFS Global under the authorisation of the Icelandic Directorate of Immigration (UTL) or a representing Schengen state. Applicants submit documents and biometric data at VFS centres.

Visa processing time is normally 15–30 calendar days from the date of submission. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least one month before their intended travel date.
