How to apply for a Kenya eTA
The steps below are the general shape of a Kenya eTA application. Because Kenya has replaced visas with a mandatory eTA, almost every visitor applies before travel. Your exact requirements depend on your nationality and itinerary, so always confirm against the official Kenya eTA website and Directorate of Immigration Services pages linked below.
Check whether you need an eTA
Almost all visitors — including infants and children — need an approved eTA before travelling to Kenya. Citizens of East African Community (EAC) member states are exempt. Confirm your situation on the official Kenya eTA website.
Apply only on the official website or app
Apply only through the official Kenya eTA website at etakenya.go.ke or the official “Kenya Travel Authorisation” mobile app. Look-alike third-party sites are not the government service.
Prepare your details and documents
Prepare the passport details and documents the official application asks for. The exact list depends on your circumstances — follow the checklist on the official Kenya eTA website.
Apply before you travel
The eTA must be approved before you travel to Kenya. Apply in good time, and carry your approval with your travel documents.
