Japan Visa Exemption (Short-Term Stay)

Japan has visa-exemption arrangements under which nationals of eligible countries and regions can enter for a short stay without obtaining a visa. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, these reciprocal arrangements apply to 74 countries and regions, and cover short-term stays of up to 90 days for non-work purposes. Whether visa exemption applies to you — and for how long — depends on your nationality and the specific arrangement, so check the official visa-exemption list before you travel; if you are not covered, you will need a Temporary Visitor Visa or the JAPAN eVISA where eligible.
