EES — the Entry/Exit System
The Entry/Exit System (EES) is the automated border system for the Schengen area’s external borders. According to the official EU guidance, it registers non-EU travellers making short stays — recording biometric data (fingerprints and a facial image) along with each entry and exit — and replaces the manual stamping of passports with a digital record. This page explains what the EES is, in plain language; always confirm the current position on the official EU sources before you travel.
