It is necessary for all visitors to Ukraine to apply for a visa at one of the Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad or online, unless they are from one of the visa-exempt countries.

Travel to Ukraine is not recommended due to the ongoing war.

Ukraine is included in the UKs list of visa-exempt nations. Before travelling to the UK for whatever purpose, all Ukrainians must apply for a visa. Ukraines visa application centres have been closed, and Ukrainians are being routed to those in neighbouring nations.

Who needs a visa to Ukraine

A visa is required if you intend to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days within a 180-day period. Ukraine is not advised for travel at this time.

Entry into Ukraine

The Department of Foreign Affairs, along with the EU and other international partners, is constantly monitoring the situation in Ukraine.

The State Department strongly discourages all travel to Ukraine, regardless of motive. Irish citizens in Ukraine should evacuate if doing so is safe. If you believe you cannot leave safely, you should seek shelter in a safe location and closely monitor the situation. Keep your circumstances and departure plans under continual assessment and ensure your travel documentation are up to current. Consider that communication lines (telephone, Internet) may be interrupted.

In addition, the Department cautions strongly against commissioning surrogacy agreements in Ukraine. The situation remains exceedingly perilous throughout the entirety of Ukraine, particularly in Kiev and the western regions, as rocket assaults continue across the country. Schools, apartment buildings, and maternity facilities are among the many civilian targets that have been and continue to be attacked by missile attacks. The Department's capacity to provide consular assistance to Ukrainian citizens is extremely limited.

• Citizens of the United States do not need a visa to enter Ukraine for stays of less than 90 days.

Processing Time For Ukraine Visas

You must allow up to 10 business days from the date of application for regular service, unless otherwise specified under Ukraine's international agreements. The processing period of a standard service application may be prolonged by up to 30 business days if extra checks are required.

What To Do If Your Ukraine Visa is Refused?

In the event of visa refusal, the foreigner or stateless person may appeal the decision by submitting an appeal letter to the head of the authorised organisation that reviewed the visa application materials. The review period for this letter has been set at two months.
