Visa fees for Luxembourg vary depending on the visa category, applicant’s age, and processing type. Fees must be paid when submitting your application, either online or at your appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Luxembourg embassy.

Luxembourg Visa Fee Overview (2025)

As of November 2025, standard visa fees are as follows:

  • Short-Stay (Schengen) Visa: €80 for adults, €40 for children aged 6–12, and free for children under 6.
  • Long-Stay (National Type D) Visa: €99 per applicant.
  • Transit Visa: €80 per applicant.

Applicants must pay fees in the local currency accepted by the respective embassy or VAC. Some centres may charge additional service or handling fees.

Reduced or Exempt Fees

Certain applicants may qualify for a reduced fee or exemption, including:

  • Children under 6 years of age.
  • Students and accompanying teachers on study trips.
  • Researchers travelling for scientific purposes.
  • Representatives of non-profit organisations under 25 participating in seminars or events.

Always confirm your eligibility for a fee waiver before submitting your application.

Optional Priority and Express Fees

Applicants who require faster processing can choose an expedited service at additional cost:

  • Priority Service: €50–€100 depending on location.
  • Express Service: €150–€200 where available.

For details, see Priority and Express Services (2025).

Visa Application Centre (VAC) Service Charges

In addition to visa fees, VACs may charge for handling and administrative services:

  • Service fee: €25–€35 per application.
  • Optional add-ons: SMS updates, courier delivery, printing, or photocopying.

Check the official Visa Application Centre website for the latest pricing.

Payment Methods

Payment options vary by country:

  • Credit or debit card payments online (VFS Global or embassy portal).
  • Cash or card payment at the application centre.
  • Bank transfer or demand draft (if requested by the embassy).

All fees are non-refundable, even if your visa is refused.

Refund Policy

Visa fees and service charges are non-refundable once payment is made, regardless of application outcome or withdrawal. Applicants should review eligibility and required documentation carefully before submission.

Additional Costs to Consider

In addition to visa fees, applicants should budget for:

  • Travel insurance covering all Schengen states.
  • Document translation or certification (if required).
  • Travel and accommodation costs for appointments.

For document preparation, see the Documents Checklist (2025).

Tips Before Paying Your Fee

  • Verify the current exchange rate on the VAC or embassy website.
  • Keep a copy of your payment receipt as proof of submission.
  • Do not make payments to third parties or unverified agents.
