Luxembourg Visa Application Centres (2025)

This page has been reviewed and verified by Michael Gibbons, UK Solicitor and Regulated Immigration Advisor, to ensure accuracy under current EU and Luxembourg immigration guidance. You can confirm application updates through our Luxembourg Visa Application Guide.

To submit your Luxembourg visa application and biometric data, you must visit an approved Visa Application Centre (VAC) or the nearest Luxembourg embassy. These centres handle the intake of applications, document verification, and forwarding to the Luxembourg MinistAdd Postry of Foreign Affairs for decision-making.

Where to Apply for a Luxembourg Visa

Luxembourg visa applications are typically processed by:

  • Official Luxembourg Embassies and Consulates.
  • Authorised Visa Application Centres (VACs) operated by service providers such as VFS Global.

Applicants outside Luxembourg should apply at the VAC or consulate responsible for their region of residence.

Booking an Appointment

Before visiting a VAC, you must book an appointment online. Walk-ins are not usually accepted.

  1. Visit the VFS Global portal or the official Luxembourg embassy website.
  2. Complete your online application form.
  3. Select your nearest Visa Application Centre and choose an available appointment slot.
  4. Print your appointment confirmation to present on the day of your visit.

You should aim to book at least two weeks in advance during peak travel periods.

Documents to Bring to the Application Centre

Applicants must bring:

  • A valid passport (issued within the last 10 years and valid for at least three months after return).
  • Completed visa application form.
  • Recent passport-sized photographs.
  • Proof of accommodation and travel itinerary.
  • Proof of financial means.
  • Visa fee payment confirmation or proof of online payment.

Refer to the Documents Checklist (2025) for a full list.

Biometric Enrolment at the Centre

During your appointment, biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) will be collected. This step is mandatory for most applicants and is carried out at the same time you submit your documents. See: Biometric Enrolment Process (2025).

Service Options

Depending on your VAC and location, additional services may be available:

  • Priority or Express visa processing.
  • Premium lounge access.
  • Document translation or photocopying.
  • Courier return of passport.

Learn more about expedited options in our Priority and Express Services Guide (2025).

After Your Appointment

After submission:

  • Your application will be forwarded to the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the designated consulate for review.
  • You can track your application online using the reference number provided by the VAC.
  • You will receive an email or SMS notification once a decision has been made.

Average timelines: see Visa Processing Times (2025).

Visa Collection

Once your visa has been processed:

  • You can collect your passport in person from the same centre.
  • Alternatively, select courier delivery if available at your location.

Always check your visa vignette details carefully before travelling.

Tips for a Smooth Appointment

  • Arrive 15–20 minutes before your appointment time.
  • Ensure all forms and documents are printed and signed.
  • Bring original copies and photocopies of required evidence.
  • Dress appropriately and follow all VAC security instructions.
