Iraq Visa Proof of Funds

This page has been reviewed and verified by Michael Gibbons, Regulated Immigration Advisor. For current rules and requirements, see our guide on How to apply for a Iraq Visa.

All Iraq visa applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to cover their stay, return travel, and related expenses. Proof of financial stability is one of the most important eligibility criteria assessed by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and relevant consular authorities.

At Visa Applications, we prepare and verify all financial evidence before submission to ensure that applicants meet embassy standards and avoid delays or refusals related to insufficient funds.

Accepted Forms of Financial Proof

  • Recent Bank Statements: Personal or business statements covering at least the previous three months, clearly showing account balance and transaction history.
  • Pay Slips or Employment Letter: Confirmation of regular income or employment from your current employer.
  • Tax Returns or Income Certificates: Proof of consistent income or business revenue for self-employed applicants.
  • Sponsorship Letter: If another individual or organisation is covering costs, an official sponsorship letter with supporting bank statements is required.
  • Proof of Accommodation Payment: Hotel bookings or receipts showing pre-paid accommodation for the stay in Iraq.
  • Return Flight Booking: Evidence of confirmed return or onward travel.

Minimum Financial Thresholds

While there is no fixed publicised amount, applicants must demonstrate funds sufficient to cover:

  • Daily expenses for food, travel, and accommodation (typically £60–£100 per day depending on itinerary).
  • Full duration of stay as stated in the visa application.
  • Return or onward travel costs.

Our team reviews your financial documents against the most current embassy standards to ensure compliance and prevent unnecessary refusals.

Special Circumstances

  • Business Applicants: Must include proof of company financial standing, letter of invitation, and corporate bank statements.
  • Sponsored Applicants: Sponsorship must be verifiable, and both parties’ financial records may be reviewed.
  • Work Visa Holders: Must include a valid employment contract with clear remuneration details.
  • Family Visitors: Financial evidence may be provided by either the applicant or their host in Iraq, along with proof of relationship.

Common Reasons for Financial Document Refusal

  • Submitting outdated or incomplete bank statements.
  • Large unexplained deposits or unclear source of funds.
  • Failure to show adequate funds for the declared travel period.
  • Inconsistency between declared income and spending history.
  • Unsigned or unverifiable sponsorship letters.
