Iceland Visa Fees (2025)
This page has been reviewed and verified by Michael Gibbons, Regulated Immigration Advisor. For application guidance, see How to Apply for an Iceland Visa (2025).
Visa application fees for Iceland are set according to the Schengen Visa Code (Regulation 810/2009) and reviewed annually. All fees are payable in local currency and are non-refundable, even if your application is refused. Below is the updated fee structure for 2025, verified through the Icelandic Directorate of Immigration (UTL) and VFS Global.
Standard Visa Fees (as of November 2025)
- Short-stay Schengen Visa (Type C): €90
- Children aged 6 to 11: €45
- Children under 6: Free
- Airport Transit Visa (Type A): €90
- Long-stay Visa (Type D) / Residence Permit: Approximately ISK 12,000 (≈ €80)
The above fees apply to all categories, including tourist, business, and student applicants.
Reduced or Exempted Fees
Certain applicants are eligible for reduced or waived fees under Schengen rules:
- Children under 6 years old: Free of charge.
- School pupils, students, and accompanying teachers: Free for educational travel.
- Researchers from third countries: Free when entering for scientific purposes.
- Representatives of non-profit organisations: Free for participants aged under 25 attending events.

Service Fees (VFS Global)
Applicants applying via VFS Global must also pay a service charge in addition to the visa fee:
- Standard service fee: €35 (average, varies by location).
- Premium lounge service (optional): €80 to €100 depending on the centre.
- Courier return service (optional): €20 to €40 depending on the destination.
These fees are payable at the time of application and are non-refundable once service has been rendered.
Priority and Express Processing Fees
Although Iceland does not offer a direct “Super Priority” scheme, some VFS centres provide optional expedited processing:
- Priority appointment booking: €50 to €80 (varies by centre).
- Express document upload service: €25 to €40.
- Actual embassy decision times cannot be guaranteed under priority service.
See Schengen Priority & Express Services (2025) for country-specific options.
Payment Methods
Visa fees and service charges can be paid using:
- Credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro).
- Bank transfer or cash, depending on the VFS centre or embassy policy.
- Online payment during digital form submission (for select regions).
Applicants should confirm accepted payment methods with their local centre before the appointment.
Refund Policy
- Visa and service fees are non-refundable once an application is lodged, regardless of outcome.
- Refunds are only possible in cases of duplicate payment or cancelled appointment prior to submission.
- Refund requests must be made directly to the VFS centre or embassy where the application was filed.
Additional Costs to Consider
