Colombia Visa Appointments

This page has been reviewed and verified by Michael Gibbons, Regulated Immigration Advisor. For current rules and requirements, see our guide on How to Apply for a Colombia Visa.

Most Colombia Visa applications are processed entirely online; however, certain applicants may be required to attend an in-person appointment for biometric enrolment, document verification, or interview at a Colombian Consulate or Embassy.

At Visa Applications, we handle all appointment scheduling and communication with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or relevant consular office, ensuring you attend the correct session at the appropriate time with all required documents prepared.

Who Needs to Attend a Visa Appointment

While many applications are now processed digitally, you may be asked to attend an appointment if:

  • You are applying for a Work, Migrant, or Resident Visa.
  • Your documents require physical verification by the Consulate.
  • The Ministry requests a biometric check (photo and fingerprints).
  • Your supporting documents or travel history need further clarification.
  • You are applying from a country without direct online processing access.

Our team will confirm whether an appointment is required after your initial eligibility assessment.

How Visa Applications Manages Appointment Booking

We organise every part of your appointment for you:

  • Confirm your nearest Colombian Embassy or Consulate.
  • Book the appointment date and time on your behalf.
  • Provide a full checklist of required documents for the visit.
  • Prepare your appointment confirmation letter and submission file.
  • Communicate with consular staff if any updates or changes are required.

You’ll receive a confirmed appointment itinerary, including embassy address, contact information, and entry instructions.

Documents Required for Visa Appointments

Applicants attending in person must bring:

  • Valid passport (original and a copy).
  • Printed copy of your visa application form.
  • Appointment confirmation email or letter.
  • Proof of payment for visa fees (if not paid online).
  • All supporting documents submitted electronically (originals where applicable).
  • Passport-sized photo meeting ICAO standards (for backup).

We ensure your complete file is prepared in advance so the Consulate can process your application efficiently at the appointment.

Biometric Enrolment

If you are required to provide biometrics:

  • Fingerprint scans and digital photographs are taken at the Consulate.
  • The process typically takes less than 15 minutes.
  • Applicants must appear in person; biometrics cannot be delegated.

After biometric submission, applications are returned to the Ministry for final review and eVisa issuance.

Rescheduling or Cancelling Appointments

Appointments can be rescheduled only with prior notice. Our team coordinates directly with the Consulate if you are unable to attend your original date due to travel or document delays.

What Happens After the Appointment

After your appointment:

  • Consular officers forward your documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • You will receive an email confirmation once your visa decision is ready.
  • If approved, your eVisa will be issued electronically and sent to your email.

We track your application from appointment attendance through to visa delivery, keeping you informed every step of the way.
