B1/B2 Visa Documents Checklist (2025)
This page has been reviewed and verified by Michael Gibbons, Regulated Immigration Advisor, to ensure accuracy under current U.S. Department of State guidance. You can confirm documentation standards through Our U.S. Visa Guidance.
When applying for a U.S. B1/B2 visitor visa, you must provide specific supporting documents that prove your identity, purpose of travel, and financial standing. Missing or inconsistent information is one of the main causes of visa refusal under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
Mandatory Documents for All Applicants
- Valid passport — must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.
- Form DS-160 confirmation page — print the barcode confirmation after completing the online form.
- Visa appointment confirmation — obtained after booking your interview through the U.S. Visa Appointment Service.
- U.S. visa-compliant photo — 2 x 2 inches, taken within the last six months; see U.S. Visa Photo Requirements (2025).
- Visa application fee receipt — proof of payment of the non-refundable MRV fee.
