Who needs a visa to the Maldives

All nationalities are issued a tourist visa upon arrival in Maldives. As a result, a foreigner visiting Maldives as a tourist does not require visa permission in advance. However, the individual must meet the fundamental entrance requirements in order to obtain immigration clearance upon arrival. For a period of 30 days, the Maldives provides free tourist visas or visa-on-arrival status to citizens of all countries throughout the globe. Nationals of India and Russia are permitted to visit the Maldives for a period of 90 days without a visa.

Entry into the Maldives

At present, visitors to the Maldives are not required to provide a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result upon arrival. This could change with little notice. Before departure, all travellers should consult the websites of their airline and the Maldivian government.

Within 48 hours of both their arrival and departure flights, passengers must fill out a Traveller Health Declaration Form. If you are in Maldives, you should routinely monitor developments, consult the management of your resort or hotel, and adhere to local authorities' guidance. If you contract COVID-19 while in Maldives, you may be obliged to quarantine at your resort hotel or a government facility, and you may be responsible for the resulting substantial additional costs. Before travelling, it is crucial to confirm coverage with your travel insurance company.

Requirements to apply for a Maldives Visa

The essential conditions for admission are as follows, it is important you follow the criteria and provide all relevant documentation when applying.

• A passport or travel document with a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) that is valid for at least one month.
• A paid-ahead hotel reservation or accomodation.
• Sufficient cash to cover the duration of intended stay in Maldives.
• Confirmed onward/return tickets to home country or residency country (not applicable for valid resident permit holders).
• Entry amenities to their subsequent destinations, such as the visa.
• All travellers to and from Maldives must fill out and submit a Traveller Declaration within 96 hours of their scheduled flight. Through IMUGA, the form must be submitted.
• Certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination, if appropriate.

The visa application process will take three business days, and the applicant will be notified when the passport is ready to be collected.
