Who needs a visa to visit Kuwait?

Unless you are from one of the following 3 Countries, you will require a visa before entering Kuwait.

• Qatar.
• Saudi Arabia.

Entry into Kuwait

Visas are now available digitally. Visit the website of the Ministry of Interior for more information. Visas will be issued upon arrival, with applicants able to check the status of their applications prior to departure. There are no COVID-19 restrictions on travel from Ireland to Kuwait. There is no requirement to present vaccination or testing certificates for COVID-19. The use of face masks outdoors is not required. However, they are still required in public places like shopping malls and restaurants. The penalty for not wearing a mask in indoor public spaces is a 5,000 KD fine or up to three months in jail.

Eligibility to apply for a Kuwait visa

The criteria to apply for a Kuwait visa is straight forward. It is listed below for your benefit, along with an explanation of each one. It is important to follow the criteria if you wish to obtain a visa.

Passport photographic image

Your passport photograph should be a recent, 2 by 2 inch, colourful photograph. You must take it against a white background, without any visible face coverings or helmets. Additionally, it must be issued without rumples or ink creases.

Valid international passport

You must possess a valid international travel document that is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of return to your home country. Additionally, the first page of your passport must remain intact, and you must have at least two blank pages for your visa.

Travel medical coverage

Importantly, you will be required to provide evidence of health insurance from a governmental or private insurance provider to cover your medical expenses for the duration of your stay in Kuwait. To ensure that you receive medical assistance in the event of a medical emergency, insurance is a requirement for all Kuwait visas.

Additionally, it would be advantageous if you had a place to stay in Kuwait for the duration of your stay. To demonstrate that your lodging is secure, you must provide proof of a rental package, lodge, or hotel reservation. However, you might obtain a letter of invitation from a family member or friend in Kuwait.

Evidence of funds

Your evidence of financial capability could be a bank statement or another document demonstrating that you have sufficient funds to cover your living expenses in Kuwait.

Police clearance certificate

Similarly, the police clearance is one of the most important visa requirements for Kuwait in order to demonstrate that you have not engaged in any criminal activities in your home country. Notably, you must obtain the certificate in the country where you have resided for at least five years in a row.

For the Kuwait visa application, you must also undergo a medical examination and obtain clearance results from an accredited hospital in your country. The screening is conducted to ensure that you do not pose a threat to the inhabitants or residents of Kuwait.

Who can visit Kuwait without a visa?

Citizens of Bahrain and Oman do not require a visa to enter Kuwait and may use their national ID cards to enter the country.

What to do if your Kuwait visa is refused?

Before submitting the application, ensure that all required fields have been completed and that your passport is valid for at least six months after your date of arrival. In the unlikely event that your e-Visa application is denied, please contact customer service to arrange a refund of the service fee.
