Who needs a visa to visit Ecuador?

You can receive a visa on arrival in Ecuador

On arrival, Ecuador issues a 90-day T3 visa stamp to tourists from the majority of nations. There is no visa required for the majority of foreign travellers having passports valid for at least six months beyond the date of entrance.

South American nationals, with the exception of Venezuelans, may enter Ecuador with a cédula (national ID card); a passport is not required.

Entry into Ecuador

There are no vaccination requirements to enter Ecuador. All passengers entering or transiting through Ecuador are required to complete a Health Declaration Form.

Any traveller suspected of having COVID-19 upon arrival in Ecuador, as judged by a health authority at the airport, may be compelled to submit to an antigen test. If a passenger tests positive, they will be instructed to wear a mask (isolation is not necessary) and their health will be monitored by phone calls by the Ministry of Public Health.

Although facemasks are no longer required in Ecuador, individual establishments may request that visitors wear them. It is advised to always carry a mask and evidence of immunisation.

Those entering Ecuador via the land borders with Peru or Colombia are needed to provide an official entrance stamp. Immigration officials in Ecuador may deny admission to travellers without a Peruvian or Colombian exit stamp.

What to do if your Ecuador visa is refused?

If your plea for asylum has been deemed inadmissible or you have been denied refugee status, you may file an appeal within 10 business days of receiving the refusal notification. The public service has thirty calendar days to answer. Extraordinary appeals for review may also be made based on the grounds and within the timeframes established by law. To reapply, you are required to submit a new application, pay the application cost, and schedule a new interview.
